Fitness For You

The British Heart Foundation says that more than 20 million Brits are physically inactive – with the proportion of women rising even higher.

Government guidelines for physical activity say we should all be doing at least 150 minutes of moderate intensity physical activity a week and strength activities at least two days a week. We should also break up long periods of sitting with light activity – especially given many of us are sitting on our bums for, on average, 76 days a year.

We all know we should do it – but many of us put it off. According to Arthritis Research, the top three reasons for not exercising are not having the time (33 per cent), feeling tired (32 per cent) and cold weather (28 per cent). Joint pain was also revealed as a barrier to exercise for 51 per cent of people; physiotherapy, improved diet and sleep can all lead to improvements in joint pain.

Exercise shouldn’t be a chore. It doesn’t need to take huge amounts of time, you will be amazed how easily you can fit it into your daily routine. Movement and exercise can stop you feeling lethargic and tired, and has many other noticeable benefits including better sleep and improved mood.

At OneWellness, we have personal trainers who are here to help people of all abilities and ages. Sessions are hosted in our bespoke exercise studio, the trainers will devise an exercise programme that’s tailored just for you, helping you set goals to keep you on track. They will be with you every step of the way, overseeing your training and helping you on your journey. Whether you’re trying to take your fitness to the next level, reduce your weight or blood pressure, or have a goal you need support with (think achieving your first pull-up or 5K!), we are here to help you.

Perhaps you prefer your exercising to be a bit more sociable. We have a range of group classes you can join from Pilates and Yoga to Legs, Bums & Tums or STRONG by Zumba. We run some classes for specific age groups, such as yoga for the over 55s and the One Family Class for those with children aged 6-14 – get active together!  There’s even a golf conditioning class, specially designed to keep you flexible and strong so you can achieve that perfect swing. Some classes are run by the personal trainers, and others are run by the physiotherapy team.

We like to think we’re much more than just an ordinary gym – more approachable, friendly and tailored to you. As well as our experienced personal trainers and tailored fitness classes, we have a huge range of services at OneWellness and we’re here to help you get well, stay well and live well. So, why not come along and give it a try for yourself? You’ve nothing to lose and everything to gain.
